Kaitano Explains Mbule Storming Off

Posted: 25 February 2021

SuperSport United were lucky to escape with a one-all draw at home against Orlando Pirates Football Club yesterday as the Sea Robbers piled on the pressure in the dying embassies of the game, with Luke Fleurs clearing on the goalline to deny the visitors a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute.

However, mercurial midfielder Sipho Mbule went straight to the changing room after being hauled off by Kaitano Tembo in the 78th minute when he substituted him for Jamie Webber.

The Beautiful Game asked Tembo of Mbule’s behaviour, and he said;

“In regards to Sipho, he might be disappointed with his own performance. For me, today (yesterday), he didn’t really give us anything; in position – he never did anything, out of position, he never really put pressure on the opposition, he never really got into effective areas.

“Defensively, he never really gave us much. I think Monare, Makaringe and Ben were bossing that midfield; they had more energy than us. So I think he was disappointed with his performance because he will be the first one to agree that he didn’t have a good game,” concluded Kaitano.

Mbule has been one of the standout players this season for Matsatsantsa and in the league, with the Bethlehem-born star hoping to prove his gaffer wrong in the next match when they travel to the coast to face Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu FC next week Tuesday.
