Riekerink: We Could’ve Won This Game

DSTV Premiership club Cape Town City FC will today return to the Western Cape with no points in two games after two back-to-back defeats against Gauteng teams, Orlando Pirates Football Club and SuperSport United respectively.
City’s Dutch head coach, Jan-Olde Riekerink explains his side’s disappointing loss against Matsatsantsa yesterday, saying;
“Uhm…first half not good, second half we should finish it. I think in the first half; the tempo was too low, there were a lot of opportunities to switch this game from left to right, that’s how we play and we didn’t do it.
“We didn’t use the opportunities where we could’ve put the ball in the final third properly, so the tempo wasn’t good enough. So in the second half I put Tashreeq with Fagrie, as two strikers, and left the riggty side open so that Greg can cover the whole right.
“I think it worked, we had one big chance of Surprise, one big chance of Thato, so I think in the second half we could’ve won this game,” he concluded.
The Citizens next face high-flying Moroka Swallows FC at the Cape Town Stadium on the 21st of this month, with three points seemingly looking non-negotiable.
