Riekerink Explains City’s Capitulation

Western Cape side Cape Town City FC were yesterday beaten by Orlando Pirates Football Club within the first five minutes at the Orlando Stadium after two quick goals from Deon Hotto and Maliele Vincent Pule.
The Beautiful Game asked City’s tactician, Jan-Olde Riekerink of the reasons behind the conceding of two quick goals, and he said;
“I don’t think so, a lot of teams do concede goals in the opening five minutes, so that’s first and foremost, but it’s not normal for us (he agrees).
“But we had a gameplan and mentally I felt for the players that it was difficult (conceding early) but also in the execution we wanted to change completely.”
The Citizens also surrendered early goals against Kaizer Chiefs, and when asked if there is a correlation between the two games, he simply said;
“No, no, there is no link!,” He concluded.
Riekerink and City will remain in Johannesburg as they prepare to face SuperSport United, who were also beaten by Bloemfontein Celtics yesterday, and the turf is set to suffer on Saturday afternoon in the capital.
