Hunt: I’m Disappointed & Embarrassed!

The Nedbank Cup is a competition that always brings the spills and thrills, it’s the David’s against the Goliath’s, and what a story it was yesterday at the FNB Stadium.

GladAfrica Championship side Richards Bay beat the much-fancied Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 to progress to the last sixteen, with Gavin Hunt sharing his thoughts with The Beautiful Game post-match, saying;

“Yeah, obviously congratulations to them first… You know, we had enough opportunities to win the game but obviously they scored, we scored and they won the game. We had opportunities inside the box, outside the box, and conceded right at the death, which is disappointing. So, very disappointed, actually a bit embarrassed.

When The Beautiful Game asked about how the fringe and senior players performed, he said;

“Uhm…ja, we gotta try and use our squad, and there was a few that got a big chance today, obviously results didn’t go our way. But also disappointed with the senior players who had to do better, and didn’t do better.

“So…all round I gotta look…I select the team so I have to take responsibility for this,” he concluded.

Chiefs’ next step is in the CAF Champions League where they travel to Morocco to face Wydad Casablanca on Saturday evening.
