Cape Town City FC will today lock horns against John Maduka’s Bloemfontein Celtic at the World Cup venue the Cape Town Stadium in the last thirty two of the Nedbank Cup.
City’s head coach Jan-Olde Riekerink tells the Beautiful Game how difficult a clash it will be, saying;
“Look, it’s a challenging opponent; we saw them play yesterday, they have a good team, with a lot of dynamics so…but at this moment we are happy to play in Cape Town.
And I think that is for us the biggest benefit. Asked on the importance of the tournament, he said;
“Ehhhh…it’s a consequence of winning the Cup, at the end I will tell my players ‘At the end of your football career, you have to look back and one of the beautiful moments of a player is when you win trophies’.
“And that is something you will remember for your whole life, and you want to make targets; and it’s to win prizes, you can win the competitions and you go to play in Africa against different coaches and have beautiful experiences, but first of all; win the Cup,”he concluded.
The encounter will be played out at 17:H00, with both sides eager to progress to the next stage of the competition.
