McCarthy’s Report Card At Usuthu

Posted: 4 February 2021

DSTV Premiership side AmaZulu FC unveiled the signing of former European Champions League winner Benni McCarthy in December as the club’s new head coach.

The Beautiful Game asked McCarthy of what he thinks thus far at the club and how happy he is at Usuthu, the once-deadly striker said to us;

“You know so far…it’s eight games that I’ve been in charge; four wins, three draws, and a loss, it’s not a bad turn around, not a bad turn around at all. Uhm, I think it could’ve been a lot better, let alone some of the games we supposed to win and we ended up getting draws.

“But I’m absolutely happy with the ambition, the adjustment of the players to a new coach, new philosophy, new ways of doing things, Ja, the players have risen to the challenge, and they’ve surprised me, so yes I am happy so far, my bro” concluded McCarthy.

Usuthu next face provincial rivals and on-form Lamontville Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup last thirty two this weekend, a game that promises to be lively from start to finish, and McCarthy will be hoping for a victory.
