Zungu Reveals When Benni Talks Started

DSTV Premiership side AmaZulu Football Club earlier today confirmed the appointment of Benni McCarthy as the club’s new head coach.
The Beautiful Game asked the humble businessman and club Chairman Sandile Zungu as to when the talks commenced, and he said;
“Uhm, look, we started in earnest to talk…say on Tuesday last week. For the longest time since one came into Usuthu, we’ve been bombarded with suggestions, and everyone have been saying that Ayanda Dlamini is one for the future.
“But they were saying; you are now ready for a head coach with pedigree, a head coach whose ambitions are aligned with those of the team, whose experience will be able to inspire the big names in the team. And all the time, Benni’s name was featuring, but formally, we started talks with him when Ayanda said he wants to be redeployed in the development team of Amazulu.
“And it took a few days to conclude, it was fortunate that among other considerations that Benni had on his table, the prospect of him coaching a team like ours, it wasn’t difficult to wrap our discussions with him,” he concluded.
McCarthy will not be on the bench when Usuthu faces off with Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday, with Allan Freese set to continue preparing the team. The former Cape Town City FC mentor is however, expected to be on the bench in their home encounter against Chippa United on Sunday.
