Ronwen Happy With Captaincy
24 September 2020
SuperSport United Academy graduate Ronwen Williams has taken over the captaincy at the club after the departure of Dean Furman, and the Port Elizabeth-born goal-minder says his always been a leader.
Matsatsantsa confirmed Williams as the new skipper of the ship, with the Bafana Bafana international saying;
“Ja look I’ve always been the leader of the team you know. I’ve learnt from all the leaders who have been here; Kermit Erasmus, Furman, and Bongani Khumalo, I bided my time, I think now is the perfect time for me to take this role you know.
“I take the responsibility, I’m the link between the young players and the experienced players, I’m in the middle you know, and the balance is quite good. We’ve got a very good squad, a very young squad you know, so it’s great for us,” concluded Williams
Ronwen guided his beloved club to half a century of points in his first season as skipper, with the club finishing fifth on the log standings, also lifting the MTN8 Knockout Trophy.
