Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has lauded the growth of one of his players this season. Ashley Du-Preez had a blinder of a season in the bubble, with Barker saying;

“Yeah look Ashley has been with us for a very long time, even while he was still at school, he was already training with the first team.

“When I arrived at the club, back in December 2017, he was already here. He has got huge talent, he is blessed with an engine on him, he covers 12km+ per game, he is also blessed with speed, a good left foot – right foot, and you know, his got an eye for a goal.

“He has got all the attributes to kick on, unfortunately before the bubble, he picked up an injury but recovered well.

“I’m very proud of his achievements, and I’m really looking forward to him having a really top career in the country,” concluded Barker.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to continue his fine form next term and possibly compete for the top goal-scorer gong.
