Sundowns Star: I Learnt from My Mistakes!
Posted: 4 September 2020
Mamelodi Sundowns have swept all before them over the last couple of years under the guidance and tutelage of head coach Pitso Mosimane, and one of their stars, Denis Onyango, discloses what has kept him consistent, saying;
“Well, I’d like to say it’s been learning from my mistakes of the past and realizing that when you are given an opportunity, you have to take it with both hands.
My experiences have also helped me; I was at SuperSport United, we won the league, went to Aces (Mpumalanga Black Aces) where we got relegated, and I went to Sundowns nowhere I never played for two years my man…I then went to Wits on loan and played four games
“Then an opportunity came when I returned to Sundowns and I had a chance to play, I realized I had one last chance to prove myself. The most important thing for me was not to be a failure because some people just give up. For me, it is important to fight for your space and I have responsibilities, that helped me,” concluded an emotional Onyango.
The Ugandan international has went on to lift countless trophies at Chloorkop, both nationally and internationally, including the African Goalkeeper of the Year gong.
