Larsen: We Weren’t Good Enough!
Posted: 3 September 2020

Polokwane City head coach Clinton Larsen did not mince his words in his analysis of his side’s 3-0 drubbing against Mamelodi Sundowns last night.

Rise and Shine were unable to shine bright in the capital last night and find themselves in a damning position and are starring relegation in the eye, with Larsen saying;

“I thought today (yesterday) we weren’t good enough you know, I said it before, it was always going to be a difficult game, they are a quality team and they beat us in all areas; defensively and offensively.

“Yes in the first half we created a few chances but I don’t think we created enough goal scoring chances . And defensively again, conceding the type of goals we conceded, it’s been a story of our season.

“A team of where we are, we could’ve played much better and had a better approach to the game you know,” concluded the visibly distraught coach.

Larsen’s men go into their final game needing to score five goals and more without conceding, and hope that their cross-town rivals Baroka FC are heavily beaten in their game. It is a toll order, but football has no therefore does it?

This is one of the most exciting ABSA Premiership seasons yet in the history of South African football since the reformation of the National Soccer League in the ’96/97 season.
