Aubameyang Showdown Talks Set!
Posted: 2 August 2020
Fresh from lifting the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday evening against Chelsea, the Gunners will open contractual talks with skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon International is left with twelve months on his current deal and the club want to pin him down to a new long-term contract.
The man tasked with ensuring that Auba extends his stay is Edu, who is a former player at the club. Mikel Arteta has stressed the striker’s importance to the Londoners post the FA Cup victory, saying;
“Aubameyang knows what I think about him, I want to build the squad around him.
“I think he wants to stay; it’s about getting the deal done. Moments like today will help him to realise and believe we are on the right path and that he is a big part of it.
“He’s loved by everybody at the club so hopefully he can continue with him. I think he will continue,” Arteta concluded.
We understand that talks will formally begin this week and an announcement will be made within the next fortnight.
