PSL Project Restart: Who Will Benefit?
Posted: 30 July 2020
The Premier Soccer League conducted the draw for all thirty two teams yesterday in relation to which club will inherit a “new” home for the remaining games of the season, but it begs a question; who will benefit most here?
The traditional Big Three; Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns normally pull in the crowds on their match-days, but this is by no means a normal situation by any stretch of the imagination.
Kaizer Chiefs will play their “home” matches at their fierce rivals’ dugout the Orlando Stadium, while Sundowns will occupy the Dobsonville Stadium and finally, Pirates will somewhat make a return “home” to Ellis Park Stadium.
There has been widespread talks that the Big Three will suffer the most as their normally buoyed by their supporters, albeit having the most quality personnel than all other teams. However, with all due respect to the “lesser” sides, they might be licking their lips here at what might be and what could be.
Football has got no therefore; it is played on an even turf, with the same number of players on either side, with all footballers donning their favorite boots, and the next couple of weeks will be very interesting to say the least!
