Barker Discloses Zungu Talks
Posted: 24 July 2020
ABSA Premiership new boys Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has revealed that he had a father and son talk with departed midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu. The 24-year-old playmaker joined Orlando Pirates Football Club in a shock move in the January Transfer Window, with Barker confirming his talks with him, saying;
“Yeah, I did chat to him, I had a good heart-to-heart talk with him from a tactical and technical point of view and physically he is one of the best in the league. The challenge at a big club like Orlando Pirates is to stay focused.
“It’s an environment that can be tough if you are not playing week-in-week-out, and we just encouraged him to believe in himself; to work hard each and every day and take the opportunity with both hands when it does arrive,” concluded the optimistic Barker.
The KwaZulu Natal-born midfielder was signed suffering an injury and is yet to make his debut for the Sea Robbers, however, he has since recovered and will be looking to stake a claim in the highly congested and competitive midfield at The Buccaneers.
