Van Dijk: I Rejected City & Chelsea!

Virgil van Dijk has revealed how Jurgen Klopp convinced him to reject advances from both Manchester City and Londoners Chelsea. The towering defender joined Liverpool for an astonishing £75m (R1.5b) in the winter of 2018. Van Dijk has spoken to The Beautiful Game’s European Correspondent Chris Wheatley why he chose The Reds;
“I had the chance to go to Chelsea and Man City. When you compare the clubs, you look at the history, the town, the current squad, and their plans for the near future; I thought Liverpool was a better choice.
“But the most important thing you look at is the manager – and Jurgen Klopp is an important reason why I chose for Liverpool,” concluded the Dutch international.
The 28-year-old has went on to sweep on all offer for him with Liverpool; lifting the European Champions League, The Club World Cup, and most recently the English Premier League for the first time in 30 long years.
