ABSA Premiership side Cape Town City has confirmed that they have retrenched one of their highest paid players at the club amid the Corona Virus. The club’s owner, John Comitis revealed the news on popular sports radio show Marawa World Wide, saying;
“Chris is no longer with the club. He was one of the players that we retrenched as part of the redraft for operational issues. You know we had to make some tough decisions but at the end of the day, you’ve got eleven starting spots in the line and they need to be the most effective….and if you are on a high package and you are not delivering on a week-in-week-out basis, it makes it difficult for the club to continue with you,” concluded Comitis.
The much-loved Comitis also confirmed that a couple of other players will be released by the in the next coming and there will be new arrivals as well.
