AmaZulu Star Inspired By Grandmother!

AmaZulu goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha has had a consistent season thus far at his club but finds Usuthu battling the relegation battle, with the 31-year-old confident that they will survive the chop. Mbatha, who runs his own football foundation alongside three of his close friends, explains why he decided to erect a foundation, saying;
“The foundation was named after my grandmother Qhamulale Agnes Ndlovu (his grandmother) and the reason I thought of it is because she was someone who was always willing to give. She was always there for the community, she’d never come into our home and leave without giving something (food or advice), and I drew strength from that.
When asked about the objective of the foundation, he continued, “We started the foundation in 2018 and our objective was to assist abantwana beskole (school children) because we saw that they’d walk to school barefoot without school shoes. Secondly, we also give out food parcels in and around Umlazi and KwaMashu,” concluded Mbatha.
Mbatha joins the long list of PSL stars that have donated food parcels to the needy during the COVID-19 and hope their good deed continues.
